NEW UNIPR GRADUATE SHARES HER EXPERIENCE IN RWANDA IN A SEMINAR ORGANIZED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF KRAKOW

Elisa Franzo, graduated in Food Quality at the University of Parma, shared her experience as a researcher in Africa in this meeting dedicated to inclusive microfinance.

During May, the Department of Economics of the University of Krakow (Poland) organized a cycle of meetings dedicated to Inclusive Finance. The seminars provided a platform for debate and knowledge exchange, where Dr. Franzo was invited to share the results of her thesis on “Rural Microfinance in Rwanda”, carried out during a research period of six months, at the University of INES Ruhengeri in Musanze, on the border with Uganda.

Dr. Franzo’s testimony highlighted the economic and social aspects of microfinance, exploring how it can help improve the living conditions of rural communities and promote their sustainable development through the case of study of the potato value chain.

On the same occasion, Dr. Franzo also shared her postgraduate internship experience at Grameen Bank in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The so called “Bank of the Poor” was founded by Muhammad Yunus in 1976 and is globally regarded as the pioneering institution of contemporary microfinance. In 2006 this initiative was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
