Crossing Borders, Decolonizing Knowledge – International Seminar

The University of Parma will host on 3–4 March 2026 the bilingual international seminar “Crossing Borders, Decolonizing Knowledge”, organized by CUCI – University Center for International Cooperation within the framework of the ACHIEVE-IT Project (Academic Collaboration through Higher International Education for a Viable and Equitable Africa with Italy – CUP: D91I23001030006), in collaboration with the ParTeR – Participatory Teaching and Research Group.

The seminar will bring together scholars from European and African universities and will feature plenary sessions, workshops, and discussion panels, with presentations in French and English.

Main Topics:
Decolonization of knowledge and the social construction of the “Other”
Contemporary migration policies and subjectivities in border contexts
Mechanisms of racialization and practices of cultural and academic resistance
International academic cooperation through the ACHIEVE-IT Project


🌟 Special focus on the ACHIEVE-IT Project:
The seminar will present activities and academic collaborations developed with the consortium of 37 African partners, including presentations by project coordinators and managers, as well as the experiences of participating PhD students.
This will be a unique opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the project’s methodologies, results, and contribution to international cooperation in higher education.
